Maymont Mansion - Built: 1893
Designed by architect Edgerton Steward Rogers for James and Sallie Dooley, the house is a combination of Romanesque Revival and Queen Anne styles.
The house, completed in 1893, is a 12,000 square-foot, 33-room mansion that is a well preserved document of Gilded Age design and the taste of well-educated cosmopolitan millionaires. It also illustrates the interplay between those being served and those who served, the working class and upper class, and black and white.
