Smith's Fort Plantation

This quaint 18th century manor house located on the south side of the James River was home to middle class merchant Jacob Faulcon and his family. The house is now owned and maintained by Preservation Virginia and is fully restored. The house with its Flemish bond exterior, still retains much of its original woodwork and is furnished with fine examples of early English and American furnishings from the late 16th and early 18th centuries. The original site of John's Smith's abandoned 1609 "New Fort" is also within walking distance.
