Miller-Kite House (Stonewall Jackson's Headquarters) - Built: 1827

Built in 1827 by Henry Miller, Jr. a grandson of Adam Miller, the first settler in that part of the Shenandoah Valley, the house is a statement of the social and cultural history of the habitants. The architectural quality of the house is representative of the the early 19th century Shenandoah Valley architecture. Henry Miller engaged Samuel Gibbons to do the joiners and carpenters work. The unique brick cornice, the masonry flemish bond, the delicate carving of mantels, trim and stair rails, all bespeak a pride which was prevalent in the fine yet simple houses of the early settlers
